Introducing the WellSet 'Emotional Spring Cleaning' March Challenge

Written by WellSet | March 01, 2023

The spring season brings with it a sense of renewal. As the daylight stretches and temperatures warm, you may find yourself feeling a desire to look within and begin a process of emotional renewal. With the sprouting of new life, it’s the perfect time for us to tend to our inner emotional landscapes, weeding out the old and planting seeds for the new.

This is why we’re hosting an Emotional Spring Cleaning Challenge: to help you clean out your emotional closet and gently release what's no longer serving you.

Just as spring is a time to clean out our physical spaces, releasing what is no longer of use to us, we have the opportunity to do the same with our emotional spaces. It’s a time to sweep away the emotional cobwebs and residues that subconsciously influence the way we think, feel, and act day-to-day. We all carry old emotions that get trapped in our systems from past disappointments, traumas, conflicts, and even early childhood experiences. When we take the time to look at these difficult emotions, we can understand them, process them and release them so we can move forward.

At WellSet, we see four stages that allow us to take inventory of our emotional state and then help transform it. Each stage includes reflections and practices to help us navigate this process of emotional spring cleaning.

Reflect

Take inventory of your inner emotional world, and reflect on areas where you may be holding emotional residue. Identify what it is you want to let go of. Questions to reflect on:

What am I holding onto that no longer serves me?

What thoughts, feelings or patterns do I want to leave behind?

What areas of my life are calling for renewal or rejuvenation?

What unprocessed emotions are asking to be released?

Practices to support reflection:

Journaling, breathwork, and meditation.

Release

Move the emotion through your mind and body. Feel the feelings and actively release them out of your system. Once acknowledged and felt, emotions have permission to pass. Somatic practices and gentle movement can help shed uncomfortable emotions such as regret, shame, fear, disappointment, anger or sadness.

Practices to support release:

Somatic stretching, myofascial release, sound healing, and EFT/tapping.

Restore

Now that you have done the challenging internal work of releasing stagnant emotions, prioritize pouring back into your cup with self-care to support your mind, body and spirit. Gently build back your emotional reserves with practices that support you through this period of transformation.

Practices to support restoration:

Yoga, sound healing, and Ayurvedic self-massage.

Renew

Lighter and more spacious, you can now look to the future and decide what you’d like to invite in. It’s a time to embrace new thought patterns, beliefs and habits that will guide you towards your desired future. This sense of emotional rejuvenation will help you move towards your goals, whether they are related to physical health, mental health, relationships, family or work.

Practices to support renewal:

Self-hypnosis, meditation, self-actualization, and nutrition.
